Three ways you can respond biblically on the issue of life

August 3, 2020 by Dr. Jack Graham

If recent months have taught us anything, it’s that our society is broken in more ways than one. But one form of brokenness that can’t get lost in the midst of all the upheaval we’re experiencing is the unspeakable tragedy of abortion.

You see, the Bible describes all children — born or unborn — as a blessing from God. Yet hundreds of thousands of unborn children are murdered every year in America. Our country ranks among the top ten worldwide in terms of the number of abortions carried out on an annual basis.

It’s a horrific reality… and one that we as Christians have been called to step into with hope. Doing so takes being able to lovingly respond to our culture’s view on abortion with answers that are strong enough to withstand debate and clear enough to provide healing.

So here are three ways you can begin doing that today:

  1. Get informed. Study the statistics, literature, and conversations surrounding this issue, and learn what Scripture has to say about it. Treat it as if it were your own personal problem. A good place to get started is with my book Culture Wise, which you can read more about on page 3.
  1. Teach your children. Most schools leave out moral and biblical teaching when it comes to sex education. Embrace that responsibility as a parent to teach your children about God’s design for sex.
  1. Work and pray. Get involved in supporting leadership and legislation that will prohibit abortion and pray for God’s power and grace to turn the hearts of those who continue to fuel the abortion industry.

As believers in Christ, we must stop allowing our broken culture to define this issue. Instead, we must be willing to stand in support of unborn children everywhere and, by God’s grace, be the change that puts an end to abortion.
