Don’t rush God.
By | October 27, 2017

I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.

-–Romans 8:18

God is constructively, creatively, and compassionately working through things in your life right this very moment! Invisibly and invincibly, the hand of God is at work!

Does that thrill you? It does me! And it’s the reason that I want to encourage you not to rush Providence… don’t push Providence.

Now that’s my challenge sometimes, I want to help God get it done. I want things in my time and my way. And when you think about it, that’s exactly what disappointment and discouragement is. When I’m discouraged I’m not trusting and believing God for his timing and his perfect will.

The great basketball coach, John Wooden, who passed away several years ago at almost 100 years of age, wrote a book called, Be Quick, Don’t Hurry. He was talking about basketball of course, saying be quick, but don’t rush because that’s when mistakes happen.

That’s good advice for us today regarding life in general. You see, with God time means nothing, but timing with God is everything!

You may be struggling today wondering when your struggles will ever end. But with God, your suffering is only temporary and your future is filled with eternal hope.

Trust God’s timing and the masterful hand of Providence in your life. Your struggles today cannot compare to the glorious promise that is yours in Christ Jesus.

INVISIBLY AND INVINCIBLY, THE HAND OF GOD IS...

You’re called to be a hero!
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 4, 2017

I’m sure you know the stories of the great heroes of the faith. We have so much to learn as we look in wonder at all they achieved for the Lord. But we must beware. As we look back at these spiritual heroes, we mustn’t put them on pedestals. And we certainly mustn’t think they were in some higher “super saint” league.

Sharing his G.R.A.C.E.
By | September 28, 2017

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

—2 Corinthians 5:20

In Christ Jesus, you and I have received an astounding gift… it’s the gift of grace. So let me share a little acrostic that will make it easy to share Christ with those he brings across your path. It’s based on the letters G-R-A-C-E:

“G” stands for the “Gift” of salvation. You and I can do nothing to earn his grace; it’s a gift. Ephesians 2:8 says, For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God….

“R” stands for “Repentance.” To repent means to turn. In our sin, we were walking away from God, but then we turned from sin and began to follow Christ!

“A” stands for “Almighty” God. We need to develop a relationship with Almighty God… the one who loves us and who has a wonderful plan for our lives.

“C” stands for “Commitment.” You and I are called to live in a committed relationship with Jesus, the Bridegroom. He died for us, he lives within us, and he’s coming again to receive us to himself!

“E” stands for “Eternal” life. We receive the gift of eternal life by faith the moment we come to Christ!

YOU AND I CAN DO NOTHING TO EARN HIS GRACE; IT’S A GIFT!

One Thing
By Dr. Jack Graham | September 25, 2017

But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

—Matthew 19:26

The Christian faith is a can-do faith! “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” was the apostle Paul’s declaration in Philippians 4:13, and it should be ours as believers as well.

Jesus not only transforms our spirit when He saves us, but He transforms our way of thinking and looking at life.

Of course, there will be times when we’re blue and discouraged, and even times when we are so down that we don’t know which way is up! That’s a normal part of being alive. But through it all, God’s Word promises us that we can defeat discouragement through the power and victory that is ours in Jesus Christ!

When you know Christ, all things are possible. No matter what your past has been, what your current state of mind is, or what your current circumstances are, if you will come to Jesus Christ, you can rebuild your life. Don’t let the devil or anybody else tell you that can’t happen to you!

If you’ve never put your faith in Christ alone for salvation, or if you’re not sure about your relationship with Him, I invite you to believe in the One who died on the cross for you. Put your faith in Christ, and receive Him as your Savior. And if you know Him, thank Him for new life and the can-do faith that He has given you!

THANK GOD TODAY THAT HE HAS THE POWER TO TRANSFORM AND REBUILD ANY LIFE.

Look for ways to serve and love others today!
By Dr. Jack Graham | September 21, 2017

Half of my servants worked on construction, and half held the spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail.

—Nehemiah 4:16

As a Christian, God expects you and I to be productive.

What a great example we have of this in the fourth chapter of Nehemiah. Once the plot to stop the work of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem was foiled, everybody went back to work with renewed energy.

Even those who weren’t actively rebuilding the walls kept armor and weapons ready in case the enemy attacked. Nobody sat around idly!

First Corinthians 15:58 tell us to “be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord….”

And what exactly does “abounding in the work of the Lord” mean? For one, it means we’re actively looking for ways to serve God and serve others. It means we’re so busy thinking about what we can do next for the Kingdom that we have little time to think about ourselves, worry, and become discouraged!

Today I want to challenge you to go out of your way to serve someone. And don’t just do it to do it. Let that person know you’re helping them out because your service pleases the Lord you love! It will be a great testimony of a life that’s sold out for Christ.

LOOK FOR WAYS TO SERVE AND LOVE OTHERS TODAY…AND EVERY DAY.

God has something great in store for you!
By Dr. Jack Graham | September 20, 2017

When our enemies heard…that God had frustrated their plan, we all returned to the wall, each to his work.

—Nehemiah 4:15

God can do amazing things with people who refuse to quit, who take their eyes off their present circumstances and look ahead because they believe God has something great in store.

That’s what Nehemiah did when he was faced with a crisis in his wall-building work in Jerusalem. The enemies of God’s people plotted to stop their work, but God brought their plot to nothing. So Nehemiah looked ahead to the goal and sent everyone back to their work!

In other words, Nehemiah focused on the future. He refused to be discouraged by the present circumstances because he knew God was going to do something great.

Paul gives us the same encouragement in Philippians 3:13-14, when he says, “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

If you’re discouraged today, think about this. God may just be letting you go through a down time to prepare you for a great victory tomorrow. So don’t let you head hang low! Lift your eyes and take a forward look. Because God’s blessing may be just around the corner!

DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT GOD HAS SOMETHING GREAT IN STORE FOR YOU?

Lift Christ up
By | September 18, 2017

“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”

—John 12:32

There are many today who suggest that the church would be better off if we watered down the message of the Gospel for the sake of our witness.

These people say things like, “You’re too hard on people. Don’t be so dogmatic regarding Christ’s teaching. You’re going to run people off.”

Well, you know what? The very opposite is true. You and I have been given clear instruction and teaching in the Scripture on how we should behave and how we are to perpetuate Christ’s teachings in the world.

So what is our message and how do we present it to a hostile world?

Part of the message that we carry as Christ-followers states unapologetically that there is a right and wrong when it comes to cultural, ethical, and moral issues. It’s clearly written in God’s Word. And we’ve been given a message of hope and transformation that the world desperately needs to hear and to embrace.

So when you engage those whose opinions are diametrically opposed to yours, be respectful. But remember who you represent. We aren’t here to champion our own opinion, but to lift up Christ and his Truth!

Treasure and defend the hope and love that Christ has deposited within you! Never deny your faith but be faithful to lift up Christ Jesus! And when you do, he will draw men to himself!

We aren’t here to champion our own opinion,

...
