You're saved by faith...now what?
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 26, 2018
There was a president at a very prominent U.S. university several years ago who spoke about his personal faith at a graduation ceremony. He said, “Ever since the day I received Christ, the rest of my life has been a P.S. to say, ‘Thank you Lord, for saving me.’ ”
How you can be encouraged in the face of persecution
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 25, 2018
It seems like many churchgoers today love to cry “persecution” at the first sign of resistance to their faith. But the truth is that throughout this history of the church, believers have actually taken pride in being persecuted for what they believe
The only works that lead to eternal life
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 24, 2018
I’m an American. Growing up, I was taught that I could do anything I wanted in life as long as I was willing to work for it. That’s how many people in our country are raised… to never give up on their dreams, pull themselves up by their bootstraps, and make something of themselves no matter their background.
Your hope for real and lasting peace
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 23, 2018
I’m amazed at how far technology has come in the past 200 years. Just think… In 1818, the only people who knew what the President of the United States looked like would’ve been those who had seen him personally. But now, we’re inundated with news and pictures of our president, celebrities, and our friends every day.
How you can find peace in a world full of conflict
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 22, 2018
In 1919, when the first World War came to an end, many people called it, “The war to end all wars.” Just after, an organization called the League of Nations was formed, and many thought there would never again be war in the world because all disputes would be handled within the League.
Your pathway to joy in any circumstances
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 19, 2018
What do you think is the one thing that really brings about joy and passion in our lives? I’ll tell you this: It’s not money. Money can get people going, but it won’t make them live with passion. I’d also say it’s not happiness. It doesn’t matter how happy someone is… happiness alone is a dead end road.

There are all kinds of money managers and advisors in our world today: financial planners and bankers and stockbrokers and venture capitalists and certified public accountants and all kinds of men and women, attorneys, who offer financial advice and counsel.
Smart Homes Wise Families
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 17, 2018
Smart homes are everywhere, and we live with all kinds of gadgets and innovations from computers to security systems and the house that does it’s own thing. It’s a smart house.
To drink or not to drink
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 16, 2018
If you are familiar with security systems, you probably have one in your car or in your home. You know how important that is in these days to protect your family, to protect your household goods. Therefore you most likely have an alarm system of some kind to protect you and your family.

This is a command, and that command is critical. We are to be a part of the lives of our children and to grow them up, not just to bring them into the world, but bring them up in the world.
Welcome home, Pastor Brunson
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 12, 2018
“Very soon we will get to say four words we’ve been waiting to say for a long time: Welcome home, Pastor Brunson.
“Pastor Brunson’s release is the direct result of months, if not years, of prayers, meetings, conversations and back and forth trips by administration and dedicated officials determined to secure his freedom. We should be extremely grateful for their tireless work. Every human being has the right to worship freely and without fear. America was founded on this belief, and I pray we continue to defend it at home and abroad.”
Discipline over Temptation
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 12, 2018
We know that we are living in a sex-crazed culture and a sex-saturated society. We can see the cracking of the foundations. “And if the foundation be destroyed, what shall the righteous do?” We know that there is a sexual sickness in America that is devouring the very soul of this nation.
Battle of the Sexes
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 11, 2018
I suppose there are some today who would love just to take their scissors and cut this verse right out of the Bible, but it's important for us to remember that submission is not merely for wives. Submission is for Christians, and the principle of reciprocal submission is introduced in this passage. Paul is dealing with the spirit-filled life.
Walk Pure in a Polluted World
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 10, 2018
I hear a lot of talk today in Christian circles about people who say, “I want to be healthy,” and others who say, “I want to be happy,” but what God intends for us is that we be holy. Whether we are healthy or not, or whether we are happy externally or not, we should be holy in the Lord.
Three ways to master your money
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 4, 2018
You don’t have to read much of the book of James to find yourself some straight talk.
One of the issues James tackles head-on is money – how it’s earned, kept, and spent. Here’s how he begins his teaching on this tricky topic:
“Come now, you rich, weep and howl for the miseries that are coming upon you.” (James 5:1 ESV)
James pulls no punches! But he goes on to offer profound wisdom for you and me today, as he points to three ways we can let the Master control our money, rather than having our money master us:
First, your money must be rightfully gained. In our success-driven world, there’s incredible pressure to compromise our character in order to gain material wealth. But we must resist this temptation! We’re called to make honest financial decisions 100% of the time – avoiding dodgy business deals, get-rich-quick schemes, and speculative ventures.
Second, your money must be reasonably guarded. We’re called to be good stewards of all that God bestows on us, but James warns against hoarding and stockpiling. “You have laid up treasure in the last days,” he says. But, “Your riches have rotted…. Your gold and silver have corroded…” (James 5:2-3). Accumulating wealth must not be our goal – because that goal will soon become a god!
Third, your money must be generously given. You can strike a death blow to the god of greed in your life, by learning how to give and keep on giving. We give not because someone squeezes us or pressures us, but because we’re moved by the love of Jesus Christ in our hearts.
There’s no better source of wisdom for mastering your money than the Scriptures. May...
You can defeat depression!
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 3, 2018
But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
If you are feeling low today, God has a plan to help you defeat your depression!
First, God can refresh you. When Elijah was exhausted and emotionally drained, God provided refreshment. “And he looked, and behold, there was at his head a cake baked on hot stones and a jar of water. And he ate and drank and lay down again” (1 Kings 19:6).
God took care of Elijah’s physical needs—food and rest. Sometimes you need to withdraw physically, emotionally, and spiritually and be encouraged in the Lord.
Secondly, God rebuked Elijah. In verse 9, God asks, “What are you doing here, Elijah?” Yes, God sent the earthquake and the fire. But in the end, God spoke to Elijah in “low whisper” (1 Kings 19:12).
You and I often want God to speak to us with spectacular events and situations. But God most often speaks in the still small voice of His Word.
And thirdly, God recommissioned Elijah. “And the LORD said to him, ‘Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. And when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria” (1 Kings 19:15). God told Elijah that it was time to get back in the game!
Allow God to refresh you, and then reach out to someone else!
Are you vulnerable to depression?
By Dr. Jack Graham | October 2, 2018
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
What are the causes of depression?
If you look at Elijah’s bout with depression in 1 Kings 19, you’ll discover that depression is fueled by:
- Fear. Elijah heard that Jezebel was after him and was afraid. According to the late, great Zig Ziglar, FEAR equals False Evidence Appearing Real. The way to avoid fear is to walk in the truth of the Word of God and not according to the false evidence that is all around us.
- Unbelief. Elijah had seen the mighty miracles and works of God, but still allowed feelings of unbelief to creep in. He didn’t trust God to handle the situation.
- Impatience. Elijah ran ahead of God. He was trying to live and die on his own schedule, rather than trusting God to give him life, strength, and health.
- Pride. As Elijah sat under the juniper tree, he cried out, “I’m no better than my fathers!” Where did he get the idea that he was better than his fathers to begin with?
- Self-pity. Elijah was feeling sorry for himself. He looked at his problems and just wanted to give up.
Here’s the formula for depression: insult + anger x self-pity = depression. If you see yourself going down that road, put on the brakes!
Then put your trust in God. When you do, as the Psalmist says in our Scripture today, He will be your deliverer, your refuge, your shield, your stronghold, and your salvation.
