Thank God today that He has the power to transform and rebuild any life.
By | September 22, 2017
But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
The Christian faith is a can-do faith! “I can do all things through him who strengthens me” was the apostle Paul’s declaration in Philippians 4:13, and it should be ours as believers as well.
Jesus not only transforms our spirit when He saves us, but He transforms our way of thinking and looking at life.
Of course, there will be times when we’re blue and discouraged, and even times when we are so down that we don’t know which way is up! That’s a normal part of being alive. But through it all, God’s Word promises us that we can defeat discouragement through the power and victory that is ours in Jesus Christ!
When you know Christ, all things are possible. No matter what your past has been, what your current state of mind is, or what your current circumstances are, if you will come to Jesus Christ, you can rebuild your life. Don’t let the devil or anybody else tell you that can’t happen to you!
If you’ve never put your faith in Christ alone for salvation, or if you’re not sure about your relationship with Him, I invite you to believe in the One who died on the cross for you. Put your faith in Christ, and receive Him as your Savior. And if you know Him, thank Him for new life and the can-do faith that He has given you!
THANK GOD TODAY THAT HE HAS THE POWER TO TRANSFORM AND REBUILD ANY LIFE.
Look for ways to serve and love others today!
By Dr. Jack Graham | September 21, 2017
Half of my servants worked on construction, and half held the spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail.
As a Christian, God expects you and I to be productive.
What a great example we have of this in the fourth chapter of Nehemiah. Once the plot to stop the work of rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem was foiled, everybody went back to work with renewed energy.
Even those who weren’t actively rebuilding the walls kept armor and weapons ready in case the enemy attacked. Nobody sat around idly!
First Corinthians 15:58 tell us to “be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord….”
And what exactly does “abounding in the work of the Lord” mean? For one, it means we’re actively looking for ways to serve God and serve others. It means we’re so busy thinking about what we can do next for the Kingdom that we have little time to think about ourselves, worry, and become discouraged!
Today I want to challenge you to go out of your way to serve someone. And don’t just do it to do it. Let that person know you’re helping them out because your service pleases the Lord you love! It will be a great testimony of a life that’s sold out for Christ.
LOOK FOR WAYS TO SERVE AND LOVE OTHERS TODAY…AND EVERY DAY.
God has something great in store for you!
By Dr. Jack Graham | September 20, 2017
When our enemies heard…that God had frustrated their plan, we all returned to the wall, each to his work.
God can do amazing things with people who refuse to quit, who take their eyes off their present circumstances and look ahead because they believe God has something great in store.
That’s what Nehemiah did when he was faced with a crisis in his wall-building work in Jerusalem. The enemies of God’s people plotted to stop their work, but God brought their plot to nothing. So Nehemiah looked ahead to the goal and sent everyone back to their work!
In other words, Nehemiah focused on the future. He refused to be discouraged by the present circumstances because he knew God was going to do something great.
Paul gives us the same encouragement in Philippians 3:13-14, when he says, “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
If you’re discouraged today, think about this. God may just be letting you go through a down time to prepare you for a great victory tomorrow. So don’t let you head hang low! Lift your eyes and take a forward look. Because God’s blessing may be just around the corner!
DO YOU REALLY BELIEVE THAT GOD HAS SOMETHING GREAT IN STORE FOR YOU?
Lay down your rights.
By | September 18, 2017
Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you…
—2 Corinthians 6:17
If a stranger looked at your life objectively, would they come to the conclusion that you are a follower of Christ? Take into consideration what your tastes in entertainment say about you. What about your language, ethics, and relationships.
Now, what I’m about to say is essential if you and I intend to serve Christ: We are called to separate ourselves from the world.
You see, it’s impossible to make a difference in the world if we’re not different! I’ll even go a step further. The churches and Christians who are most like the world are the ones that do the least amount of good for Christ Jesus!
Do you know why? It’s because these people love themselves more than they care about a lost and dying world. It’s tragic and it’s true. There are people who call themselves Christians who’d rather have their own way and secret vices than to align themselves completely with Christ and to stand for him.
What about you? Are you willing to lay down your own rights and wishes in order to be a light to your friends and family? Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.”
Come out from among the world and become a messenger of Christ’s transforming power!
It’s impossible to make a difference in the world if we’re not different!...
Lift Christ up
By | September 18, 2017
“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
There are many today who suggest that the church would be better off if we watered down the message of the Gospel for the sake of our witness.
These people say things like, “You’re too hard on people. Don’t be so dogmatic regarding Christ’s teaching. You’re going to run people off.”
Well, you know what? The very opposite is true. You and I have been given clear instruction and teaching in the Scripture on how we should behave and how we are to perpetuate Christ’s teachings in the world.
So what is our message and how do we present it to a hostile world?
Part of the message that we carry as Christ-followers states unapologetically that there is a right and wrong when it comes to cultural, ethical, and moral issues. It’s clearly written in God’s Word. And we’ve been given a message of hope and transformation that the world desperately needs to hear and to embrace.
So when you engage those whose opinions are diametrically opposed to yours, be respectful. But remember who you represent. We aren’t here to champion our own opinion, but to lift up Christ and his Truth!
Treasure and defend the hope and love that Christ has deposited within you! Never deny your faith but be faithful to lift up Christ Jesus! And when you do, he will draw men to himself!
We aren’t here to champion our own opinion,
Is it God’s will or your own earthly desires?
By | September 13, 2017
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
I’d like to cut through the mystery and confusion about God’s will today and remind you that there are specific ways you can discover God’s will for your life.
If you’re facing a major decision, personal dilemma, or relational challenge, then let me share with you a five-point checklist you can use.
First, is what you’re doing or thinking about doing consistent with the Scriptures? God will never ask you to do anything that is inconsistent with what He says in His Word.
Secondly, have you prayed about it faithfully? As today’s verse as says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” I believe if you stay in communion and union with Christ in prayer, God will implant in your heart the right desires!
Thirdly, have you sought the wisdom of godly friends and counselors? Proverbs 11:14 tells us that in “an abundance of counselors there is safety.” If you’re facing a big decision in life right now, be sure to seek counsel from godly friends… people who are passionately pursuing Christ and who understand the Scriptures.
Number four, what do the circumstances surrounding your decision look like? Are they lining up with what God wants you to do? Does it look like is opening a door… or is He shutting a door? Pay attention to your circumstances.
And finally, number five, if you’re dealing with a relational challenge… and you’re not sure how or...
Money can’t buy you love
By | September 6, 2017
“But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
When the Scripture stresses the principle of riches in God over the riches of the world, you and I need to pay close attention.
For instance, the man Jesus was talking about in today’s verse had invested all that he had in his crops. And when he had a bountiful harvest, he hoarded everything he had. And in the end, the man lost his soul.
You see, there are things that money can do for you… but there are some very important things it cannot do:
· Money can buy you entertainment, but not happiness.
· Money can buy you a bed, but not sleep.
· Money can buy you a reputation, but not character.
· Money can buy you medicine, but not health.
· Money can buy you influence, but it can’t buy you salvation in Jesus Christ!
Take this to heart: Never substitute money for the things that only God can provide. Money might buy you things, but it can never make your soul prosper!
MONEY MIGHT BUY YOU THINGS, BUT IT CAN NEVER MAKE YOUR SOUL PROSPER!
Have you done business with your soul?
By | August 31, 2017
And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
—1 John 2:17
What is a soul? Maybe you’ve never really thought about it. And yet, every human being on earth has a soul given to them by God himself.
The Scripture says that when God created Adam, he breathed the breath of life into him and Adam became a living soul. God did that very thing for you and for me when he breathed the breath of life into us!
So you might even say that your soul is the “you” of you. It is your innermost person. And it’s a part of you that only God can see and know.
And at the same time, it is your soul that makes it possible for you to know God and to live forever, because your soul is immortal, just as God is immortal. So your soul has incredible value. And Jesus proved that when he ransomed your soul on the cross so that you could live for eternity with God!
You may own a lot of valuable things, but you own nothing more valuable than your soul. It is of infinite value and of eternal worth.
So let me ask you today, are you caring for your soul as the precious gift from God that it is? Please don’t neglect it, but nourish it by spending time in the Scripture and by praising and worshipping your creator.
NOTHING YOU OWN IS MORE VALUABLE THAN YOUR SOUL.
Where is God when the storms come?
By | August 30, 2017
Where is God when the storms come?
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord.
Throughout the history of our faith, the question has often been asked, “Where is God when tragedy strikes; and where is He when the storms come?” And as often as that question has been asked, there has been no shortage of answers put forth by Christians and non-Christians alike. But even deeper than that question is the concern by some that God is aloof when storms hit.
I just love what Corrie ten Boom, the great Christian who served the Lord during World War II and was a prisoner in a concentration camp, was quoted as saying. She said, “There is no panic in heaven; only plans!” What a perspective from a woman who knew what suffering and tragedy was all about!
Has it ever sunk in that nothing takes God by surprise? When tragedy strikes our lives; when the storms come, and destroy all that we have built; God remains steady. When storms, sickness, destruction, and death seem like they’re winning and we’re tempted to panic, God doesn’t flinch. You see, while we’re often taken by surprise, nothing takes God by surprise.
No matter how great the power of Satan, or the destructive forces of nature appear to be in this world; no matter how it may appear that evil is winning, no matter how overwhelming the storms of this life may seem; God’s power is mightier than the power of our enemy or the forces of nature. God is...
Are you smarter than God?
By Dr. Jack Graham | August 25, 2017
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise….
—1 Corinthians 1:27
Sometimes we think we’re smarter than God. But imagine what would happen if people really trusted God with every detail of their lives. Imagine the heartache that could be saved!
For instance, what does the Scripture says about sex and marriage? God says, “If you will just trust me and keep your heart and life pure, I will bring someone into your life in my own way and timing.”
But some singles are impatient and don’t wait on God or trust him in the area of sexual purity. And their choices lead to a world of hurt.
Another area that some people fail to trust God in is the area of finances. God asks you to trust him by giving 10% of your income as a tithe. And yet, this scares some people. They’re afraid they can’t afford it. But the truth is, you will be better off with a blessed 90% of your income than with 100% of your income that you’ve kept to yourself!
You see, God’s way may look illogical to the world, but God isn’t looking for your logic. He’s looking for your trust. And when you trust God, he can bless you.
GOD ISN’T LOOKING FOR YOUR LOGIC. HE’S LOOKING FOR YOUR TRUST.
