This temporary world and your eternal home

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.”

–Matthew 24:35

One question I’m frequently asked is whether or not we’ll still remember our life and times here on earth when we’re in heaven. Now, I can’t totally answer that question, but I can say that the longer we’re in eternity, the more and more the world will be in our rear-view mirrors.

Think about it for a second… When we get to heaven, our time on earth is all we’ll know because it will account for 100% of our existence. But after a thousand years, our time on earth will account for less than 10% of our existence. And then after 10,000 years, it’ll be less than 1%.

The point is that this world and everything in it will pass away because they are temporal things. But as we look toward the wonderful eternity we’ll have with Jesus, we fix our eyes on things that will last forever and ever.

This world is like a clock running down. But if you focus on the life to come, you’ll become more and more in touch with the things that never end. Don’t love the things of the world. Instead, long for the things of eternity that are to come!

INSTEAD OF LOVING THE TEMPORARY THINGS OF THE WORLD, KEEP YOUR FOCUS ON THE LIFE TO COME!
